Be able to carry out these tasks:
Start and stop Excel
Open, save, and close a workbook
Create a new sheet for a workbook (name a sheet)
Identify the different toolbars - standard, format, drawing, chart. (And be able to identify the buttons and their uses)
Move around, select a cell, enter data
Identify cells (single, range)
Format cells – right justified, number (use 1000 separator, decimal places), currency, percentage
Select a range of cells, copy and paste a range of cells
Create a border
Place a border underneath a set of cells
Place a box around a cell or set of cells
Increase the width of a column of cells
Perform a "what-if" analysis
Create a series of numbers using the fill handle (values in a series)
Copy a formula from cell to cells
Recognize error messages: #value, ######
Be able to use the "if" function
Be very clear on the format of a function
Use various techniques to change a column's width
Understand the need for relative or absolute addressing
Create relative vs. absolute addressing
Insert a row
Freeze panes
Use these functions: AVERAGE() COUNT() COUNTA() COUNTBLANK() LARGE() MAX() MIN() SMALL() ABS() IF() DAY() MONTH() NOW() TODAY() YEAR() SUM()
Use the formula auditing mode (on and off)
Create a chart: bar, column, pie and line (know the basic steps and what to do at those steps)
Know the uses for these chart types
Know how to read a basic chart - "answer questions concerning a chart"
