A bitmap font is composed of symbols that have each been predetermined and stored in a bitmap.
Bitmap-font strings can typically be displayed more quickly than stroke-font strings since displaying each character amounts to placing the corresponding bitmap into the frame buffer at the correct location.
Bitmap fonts do not scale well. If the size is increased they tend to look blocky; and if the size is decreased they quickly become illegible.
